Just returned from Dance Camp up in beautiful and appropriately named Freedom, NH. It's run by Dance New England and some of the original founders and members (and now their children) still attend. I didnt' quite know what to expect but I did take away a few things:
First of all, connection, connection, connection!!!! That's what it's all about! and one of the key ways we link into each other is through eye contact. Do you really make eye contact on daily basis and stay with it, stay with the person? Are you being with them in that moment? The DNE crowd is distinctly contact improvisation or freestyle/ecstatic dancing as facilated by Barefoot Boogies. Both, but particularly contact improv (CI) is practice of connection, staying with eye contact and flow. It's a dialogue I have not conversed in in a long time.
Sharing thoughts, lessons learned, questions and events of a dance/movement/creative arts therapy journey.

Something New, Better
To the Light
I left them behind
I opened the door
to light
the light
they turned away
I rushed my body
forward, forward, forward
to something new, better.
